The strategic alliance between DME Co. and Plastic Engineering & Technical Services Inc. is winning new business with its electric valve gate and sequencer, especially in the medical industry.
The high speed and electronic controls are a perfect match to the requirements of medical molding clean rooms, said Bob Starr, director of global marketing services for Madison Heights, Mich.-based DME during an interview at PDx/Amerimold in Cincinnati, May 11-13.
The gating system also allows molders to quickly change production flow and speed mold changes, both of which improve productivity on the shop floor, he said.
The companies are planning to update their offerings with a high-cavitation temperature controller later this year.
Other new products out from DME include:
A new line of standardized expandable cavities, which simplify tool design for mold undercuts such as threads, dimples and protrusions on circular plastic parts. The standardized parts will allow for faster mold production as well as reduced cycle time on the molding floor.
Five new sizes have been added to the collapsible core product line for caps and closures. DME now offers standardized sizes in a range from 142.4 to 285.8 millimeters.
