Rheo-Pro N30 nozzle good for heavy shots
Mold Hotrunner Solutions Inc. of Georgetown, Ontario, has developed the Rheo-Pro N30 hot-runner nozzle for large injection molded parts with extremely heavy shot weights.
With a melt bore of more than 11/4 inch, the N30 nozzle can handle even the biggest parts, including containers, pallets and automotive components. It has a velocity and shear rate that ensure minimum melt-pressure drop while enabling material to move through the melt core at optimal speeds, according to the company.
The generous melt bore size also is well-suited to molding large parts with long-fiber-reinforced or tough-flowing, high-viscosity polyolefins, the firm said.

Slide Mold Shield helps prevent rust
Slide Products Inc. of Wheeling, Ill., said its Mold Shield rust preventive delivers a dry mist with a red indicator die to see what areas have been sprayed and what has been missed.
The product also is available without the indicator die.
Mold Shield delivers a dry mist that won't penetrate into moving mold parts like ejector-pin holes, slides and cams, so it prevents marking of plastic parts when the molds are put back into service.
The non-silicone, non-wax formulation seals out condensation, neutralizes fingerprints and is self-cleaning at startup.
Slide Products is offering a free sample kit.

Greco offers TPU in biocompatible, rigid
Great Eastern Resins Industrial Co. Ltd., a Taichung, Taiwan-based polyurethane adhesives and thermoplastic PU manufacturer, has commercially released its biocompatible and rigid Isothane TPU resins in North America.
The firm, also known as Greco, developed the Isothane 8000 series of rigid TPU materials in 2009. Isothane 8000 comes in three different forms: clear, opaque (with impact modifier) and opaque with long-glass reinforcements.
As for biocompatible grades, clear Isothane 8101-B has been tested and complies with USP Class VI requirements, while opaque 8102-B is undergoing these tests.
The data sheets and material safety data sheets for Isothane 5000 and 8000 are available on the website of IDES Inc. of Laramie, Wyo., at www.ides.com.
The North American distributor for the resin is Greco Resin International LLC in Holland, Mich.

Gas plasma system coats medical parts
Plasmatech Inc. of Erlanger, Ky., has introduced the AL400-D gas plasma system for coating bulk medical products.
Using Plasmatech's Thin-Glyde process, tackiness or drag of rubber or elastomeric surfaces can be significantly reduced, the company said. The coating also repels lint and other contaminants on silicone components.
The coating thickness is typically less than a micron, and it does not affect the properties of the products, Plasmatech said.
