Preform Technologies LLC will move from its 7,500-square-foot plant into a 40,000-square-foot facility and add machinery.
The Holland, Ohio, PET preform manufacturer said it will move to Swanton, Ohio, about seven miles away, and add extrusion blow molding capability to its injection molding operations.
This takes us into mature, multilayer container development, President Jim Sheely said in a July 15 telephone interview.
Preform Technologies will add two injection molding machines to its existing two presses, which are being moved to the new pant, he said. In addition, the company is buying a continuous extrusion multilayer shuttle machine.
The move should be complete by the end of August.
About 15,000 square feet of the new plant will be manufacturing space, with the balance used for warehousing the first time Preform Technologies has had both under one roof.
In this new facility, we can do development work for the senior business at PTI, and still be configured for commercial manufacturing, Sheely said.
He said the building can handle up to eight injection molding machines for customers in custom blow molding markets.
Preform Technologies is a subsidiary of Holland-based Plastic Technologies Inc., which designs and develops preforms and packaging. Sheely is vice president and general manager of business development for PTI, as well as vice president and general manager of PTI Recycling Systems LLC in Holland.
PTI Recycling Systems provides technical support for Phoenix Technologies International LLC, which operates a plant with 10 million pounds of annual capacity in Bowling Green, Ohio. That plant makes PTI's LNO-brand compacted, food-grade recycled PET pellets, called LNOc.
