Topline Products Co. Inc., a maker of cosmetics packaging and products has acquired its first manufacturing facility in the United States, injection molder Motor City Plastics Co. in Dundee, Mich.
The acquisition is Wayne-based Topline's second in North America this year, the company said in a July 26 news release.
In May, Topline established a filling and assembly plant in Reynosa, Mexico. The company also operates four cosmetics packaging plants in China.
Topline Products said it bought all of Motor City Plastics' assets and plans to retain its employees. The newly purchased facility, to be called Topline Michigan, will manufacture cosmetics packaging components, including compacts and caps.
Motor City has produced plastic parts since 1948, including many top cosmetics industry brands, the release said.
The new plant not only strengthens our North American presence but also complements our China operations in providing customers a wider range of options when they require global capability, said Charles Chang, president of Topline Products.
Management at the plant will report to Jim Adams, Topline vice president of manufacturing.
In addition to Wayne, the company has offices in Paris, Shanghai and Taipei, Taiwan.
