Frimo Group GmbH is investing $5 million in a new technology center for its North American operations, which it said will allow the company to offer its full production range to automakers in the region.
The center will be housed at the Wixom, Mich., headquarters of Frimo Inc., the company said in an Aug. 18 news release. It joins a recently expanded technology center in Lotte which is also global headquarters for the auto supplier and another center currently under construction in Shanghai.
Frimo combines a variety of processes and tooling to create Class A surface interior parts for automakers and interior parts makers. It posted about $200 million in 2009 global sales.
The Wixom center will combine rapid prototyping, polyurethane processing, thermoforming, laminating, trimming, PU spray and PU foam-in-place operations for soft trim.
The company also has a North American operation in Chatham, Ontario.
