In machinery circles, no doubt eyebrows were raised over the news that Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. plans to roll out all-electric presses at K 2010 its first foray into all-electrics. Founder Robert Schad could ruminate for hours on the topic, insisting modern hydraulic presses were better than all-electrics. (Schad sold Husky to private equity company Onex Corp. and retired.)
All-electrics have become the machine of choice for small-ton presses. Husky's management understands Business 101: Give the people what they want, or least the option to choose.
