KraussMaffei Berstorff offers its PlanetCalander, featuring a flexible roll arrangement, for polishing optical-clear film and sheets.
Applications include sliding roofs; headlights and rear windows for automotive; displays for communication devices; helmet visors; sunglasses; roof lights and safety windows for buildings; and protective covers and casings.
The sheet, used for thermoforming, has to be protected against dust by clean room conditions.
KraussMaffei Berstorff sheet production lines have output rates of up to 2,640 pounds an hour. They usually use a single-screw extruder, but when a sheet producer needs higher output rates and even more efficient degassing, the company can equipment the line with co-rotating twin-screw extruders under the ZE line.
The roller train has chrome-plated carrying rollers, giving excellent surface quality and avoiding marks on the crystal-clear sheet, according to the Hanover, Germany-based company. The first rollers are temperature-controlled and temperature-driven.
