If you want to use your smart phone to keep abreast of breaking news from the upcoming K 2010 trade show in Germany, or the latest global industry news generally, Plastics News Global Group has new tools to do just that.
The world's largest plastics publisher has developed a mobile K show website and will be posting short news alerts throughout the Oct. 27-Nov. 3 show in Dusseldorf, Germany. Just go to m.plasticsnews.com/k to view the most current news happening at the show or sign up to receive twice-daily e-mail K news alerts.
The K show mobile site will remain live through Dec. 31. During the show, many stories will appear first on the mobile site even before they appear on other Plastics News Global Group sites. In some cases, the stories will appear only on the K show mobile site. Editorial staffs from European Plastics News, Plastics News and PRW will all contribute to the K mobile site.
Visitors in Dusseldorf can use the booth number look-up feature on the home page of Plastics News' K mobile site to navigate the world's biggest plastics trade show. And a handy feature allows Blackberry users to add a Plastics News K show mobile icon to their home screen that instantly launches that site. Android and iPhone users can use built-in bookmarks to launch the site.
Meantime, Plastics News also has launched a mobile version of its main website, PlasticsNews.com, for smart-phone users who want to track the publication's global news coverage. That new site http://m.plasticsnews.com will post headlines and links to the full text of all breaking news stories at the same time they are posted to PlasticsNews.com.
The site offers a host of mobile-optimized news and data, including:
* Current resin pricing chart.
* The Plastics Blog by Plastics News Managing Editor Don Loepp.
* PN's weekly reader poll.
* A site-search feature lets mobile users search the 17-year database of more than 35,000 stories on PlasticsNews.com.
* Free access to the entire PN website, with no password required.
* Links to the mobile versions of European Plastics News and PRW as well as the Plastics News Global Group's K show mobile site.
And, again, Blackberry users can add a Plastics News icon to their home screen that instantly launches the PN mobile site, while Android and iPhone users can use built-in bookmarks to launch the site. More features will be added later.
PN sister publications European Plastics News (http://m.europeanplasticsnews.com) and PRW (http://m.prw.com) also have launched mobile versions of their websites.
