Visitors to K 2010 are in a buying mood just ask Bengt Rimark, global marketing director of Rapid Granulator AB.
The Bredaryd, Sweden-based maker of recycling equipment made several sales in the first few days of the show, and by Oct. 30 many of the big and small granulators at the company's exhibit had been sold.
The timing for this K show really has been absolutely perfect, Rimark said. We've sold four machines to customers in Australia, Russia and Poland. I promise you that before the show is over, we will sell everything.
The strong results reflect a big turnaround for Rapid, which a year ago went through a restructuring in response to the machinery market downturn.
What a difference a year makes. Now the firm is busy, with workers scheduled even on Saturdays and Sundays in order to keep up, Rimark said.
A year ago, I would not have said that, he said.
At K 2010, held Oct. 27 to Nov. 3 in Dusseldorf, Rapid featured its largest-ever open-hearted granulator, a 600-Series model with a 1,500-millimeter opening.
