Chicago's McCormick Place picked up some good news today: Solar Power International announced that Chicago will be home to its 2013 conference, the largest of its kind in North America. According to the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, the event will bring 27,000 attendees and generate at least $38 million in spending, according to this report from Crain's Chicago Business. Plastics Blog readers will recall that it was a year ago this week -- Nov. 17, 2009 -- that the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. announced it was moving the 2012 and 2015 NPE trade shows to Orlando, Fla. What a difference a year makes.
