Tweeting about plastics
Plastics News reached a milestone in social media today, when our Twitter site surpassed 1,000 followers. Thanks to Charlie Sheen, I guess, just about everyone understands what Twitter.com is these days. But you don't need to be a warlock with tigerblood running through your veins to appreciate the growing number of plastics industry readers who use Twitter to communicate with friends and followers -- and to keep up with the latest news. I've noticed that our tweets are being @mentioned with a lot more frequency these days. That's the power of social media. We have some followers of our Twitter feed who have lots of followers of their own. When they mention our content, it can instantly reach thousands of additional readers. We appreciate that. I have a feeling that we won't be at 1,000 followers for very long. Many Plastics News readers may not yet even realize we have a site. Many aren't aware of the volume of good content that we post there. (Typically 12-15 news headlines/blog posts/marketing messages every business day). We may not challenge Charlie Sheen with his 1.5 million followers in less than a week ... but then our Tweets aren't quite as entertaining. Perhaps we can steal a few of his idea, though. How about:
