U.S. thermoformed food-packaging manufacturer D&W Fine Pack LLC has acquired Canadian thermoformer Tri-City Packaging Ltd.
Tri-City employs more than 50 and operates 13 thermoforming machines. It is based in Waterloo, Ontario, where it operates a 60,000-square-foot plant, said Stephen Schultz, D&W's corporate marketing director, in an April 4 email.
Founded in 1999, Tri-City supplies Canadian packaging markets for bakery products, poultry, fruit and vegetables.
Don Hexamer, president of Tri-City, will continue with the newly named D&W Fine Pack Canada Inc., according to a news release from Fountain Inn-based D&W.
Our acquisition of Tri-City expands our North American positioning, which broadens our ability to serve our customers, deepen our product portfolio and develop new, innovative capabilities, Bill Williams, president and CEO of D&W, said in the news release.
D&W ranked No. 6 among North American thermoformers in Plastics News' most recent survey. The company's sales in 2010 were $280 million.
