Every year, plastics companies get the chance to shine in the Plastics News Processor of the Year Award — and it's nomination time once more.
The award honors a North American processor for its performance, corporate responsibility and overall excellence. The competition is open to any public or private company, or operating divisions, that have been engaged in plastics processing in North American for at least five years. And once again we will be bestowing three additional excellence awards to deserving entrants.
Deadline for entries is Sept. 26.
The award, judged by members of Plastics News' editorial staff, recognizes well-rounded companies. There are seven criteria: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry/public service and technological innovation.
Last year's Processor of the Year winner was Plastikos Inc. a molder of electrical connectors and medical parts in Erie, Pa.
Again this year, Processor of the Year candidates also will compete for three Plastics News Excellence Awards, in three categories. Last year's Excellence Award winners were DeKalb Molded Plastics Co. in Butler, Ind., for Customer Relations; Pelican Products Inc. in Torrance, Calif., for Industry/Public Service; and Steinwall Inc. in Coon Rapids, Minn., for Employee Relations.
You can nominate your own company, a customer or a supplier. It's easy to kick off the process. Submit an entry form and a letter briefly explaining why the company deserves the award. The form is available online at plasticsnews.com/nominate. You can find a list of frequently asked questions about the award at plasticsnews.com/forum2010/poy_award.html.
After a company is nominated, we ask processors to submit more-detailed submissions. Again this year, senior reporter Bill Bregar is coordinating the award. He can be reached by phone at 330-865-6158, fax at 330-836-2322 or e-mail at [email protected] The winner will be announced at the next Plastics News Executive Forum, set for Jan. 29-Feb. 1 in Tampa, Fla.
