Viskase Cos. Inc., a producer of packaging for meat products in Darien, Ill., is opening a plant in Manila, Philippines.
The plant will be in the Clark Freeport Zone, said a news release from Clark Development Corp. Officials from Clark Development and Viskase held a groundbreaking ceremony June 7 for the 426,000-square-foot plant.
Viskase officials did not return a call seeking comment.
Viskase will invest $12 million to $14 million and employ 100-150, according to a news release. The firm expects to export roughly $40 million in products over its first three years in operation.
Viskast makes cellulose casings, plastic films and casings, and barrier shrink bags. Its polyamide casings are marketed under SealKase, Vismoke and Visflex name brands.
