For the first time, sister companies Bruckner Inc. and Kiefel Technologies Inc. are now under one roof, at a new North American headquarters in Portsmouth that opened June 1.
Bruckner Inc., a supplier of cast film machinery and film stretching lines, and Kiefel, which sells thermoforming and welding machinery, are part of Brückner Technology GmbH of Siegsdorf, Germany.
The Portsmouth office also will build a North American presence for PackSys specialized packaging equipment for making and printing on tubes, metal and plastic closures and aluminum cans. Brückner bought the Swiss company, PackSys Global Ltd., in January.
Together, Bruckner and Kiefel employ a total of 20 employees in Portsmouth.
“It's part of our platform strategy,” said Steven Hoenig, president and CEO of Kiefel Technologies. “We get synergies in different countries, and it allows us to better address our customers' needs.”
Peter Hoffmann is president of Bruckner Inc.
The U.S. operations have been housed in two separate locations: Kiefel was in Hampton, N.H.; Bruckner was in Greenville, S.C.
In 2009, Brückner Technology sold the Kiefel blown film equipment business to Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co. KG. Brückner has concentrated on its machinery for cast film and sheet, film stretching, thermoforming and welding.
