BLUE BELL, PA. (July 11, 2 p.m. ET) — Welex Inc. has named a new top executive, David Schroeder, a former official of Constar International Inc., the PET bottle supplier, who becomes president, CEO and a director of the manufacturer of sheet extrusion lines.
Welex, based in Blue Bell, announced the news July 11.
Schroeder succeeds Wayne Lewis, who left his post as Welex president in April.
Schroeder has a background in packaging and the medical products sector. He has spent more than 15 years in the industry designing, manufacturing and selling equipment for plastic packaging.
He comes to Welex from Constar, where he was senior vice president of sales and marketing. Before Constar, he served as chief operating officer at Medical Instill Technologies Inc. Before that, he spent more than 12 years with the Tetra Laval Group, including the posts at blow molding press maker Sidel Inc. in Norcross, Ga., of managing director and zone vice president for North America and vice president of sales and marketing for North America.
Lewis has left Welex, which is owned by holding company W Bar E Inc.
Welex and search firm Gros Executive Recruiters considered more than 100 executives. “The Welex name was a major asset in attracting candidates for this job. We recruited noteworthy talent,” said Dennis Gros, president of the recruiting firm.
David Borthwick, chairman of W Bar E said Schroeder has good leadership skills and experience running equipment companies. “He understands the challenges in the plastics processing equipment industry, but more specifically the market demands on the equipment business and the means to maintain relevance,” Borthwick said.
