ELK GROVE VILLAGE ILL. (July 13, 3 p.m. ET) — Toshiba Machine Co. America has a new leader and aggressive plans for additional capabilities.
Tom McKevitt was appointed vice president and general manager effective July 1. He has plastics-industry responsibilities for the Toshiba injection molding equipment business in the markets covering the U.S., Mexico, Canada and, now, South America's Brazil.
McKevitt said he is contemplating adding Toshiba service and technical centers in the southeastern United States, Canada's Toronto metropolitan area and Brazil.
After a pullback, “we will try to aggressively go after Canada again” for sales and service of injection molding equipment, McKevitt said. Currently, a Toshiba Machine Co. Canada Ltd. office in Markham, Ontario, near Toronto, deals primarily with Toshiba's machine tool business.
“We are making a further commitment to the North American market to better serve our customers,” he said.
In addition to its full-capability Elk Grove Village headquarters site, Toshiba Machine has existing U.S. service and technical centers and customer training offerings in Randolph, N.J., and Ontario, Calif.
McKevitt joined Toshiba in 2003. In 2008 he was named national sales and senior marketing manager.
A Toshiba injection molding equipment operation has existed in the U.S. since 1974 and reports to Toshiba Machine Co. Ltd. of Numazu, Japan.
