Plastics News Global Group is bringing a major caps and closures conference to North America this fall, and the Closure & Container Manufacturers Association is collocating its annual conference with the event.
PN's sister publication, European Plastics News, has held seven Plastics Caps & Closures conferences in Brussels — and their success has prompted the publications to bring the event to the U.S. for the first time. It will take place Sept. 12-14 in Atlanta.
Mold components supplier Progressive Components will team with sister firm AST Technology GmbH to present a half-day workshop Sept. 12 on “System Manufacturing: Optimizing Part Design and Production of Caps and Closures.”
The PNGG conference will fill the next two days. Some two dozen speakers will present at the conference, including officials from processors, materials and additives producers, machinery and tooling firms, consultants, designers and brand owners.
At the same venue, Barrington, Ill.-based CCMA will organize a full-day conference Sept. 12 focusing on sustainability. The group has 22 member companies that employ more than 50,000 worldwide. Roy Robinson, vice president at Naperville, Ill.-based closures molder Portola Packaging Inc., serves as chairman of the association's board.
CCMA President Candace Renwall and Plastics News editorial and conference director Robert Grace agreed that collocating their respective events will benefit both groups by allowing for cooperation on program development, logistics and promotion, as well as affording individuals discounted registration when attending both conferences.
