Oregon-based Entek Manufacturing Inc. is hiring, thanks to greatly improved sales of Entek extruders, company officials said.
Entek's workforce has increased by more than 50 percent since March 2010. Sales for the year were dramatically higher than 2009 in all segments, including twin-screw extruders and replacement wear parts, according to Entek officials.
The company in Lebanon, Ore., also was named one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon by Oregon Business magazine. Entek made the list in the medium-sized companies category, which recognizes companies with 35-99 employees.
John Effmann, director of sales and marketing, said Entek has hired people in all departments — “engineers, machinists, assemblers and our purchasing agents, to name a few.”
“Business volume increased exponentially for us in 2010 and we had to ramp up our workforce to keep up with the demand,” Effmann said. Entek is now running 24/7, with the plant fully staffed.
Entek does not release sales figures, but officials said the company enjoyed one of its best-ever years for unit sales in 2010. That included turnkey plant services, complete extrusion systems, twin-screw extruders and replacement parts.
Effmann said 40 percent of orders were from new customers, and international activity was up, including increased business to the United Kingdom, Ireland and the ASEAN countries. The company also sold six times more twin-screw extruders in 2010 than the year before.
“We all know that 2009 was a difficult year and we certainly never want to go through that again as a company. But we experienced a tremendous bounce-back in sales in 2010, and so far it is continuing strong in 2011 as well,” Effmann said.
