Magic MP, a manufacturer of continuous extrusion blow molding machines in Monza, Italy, has introduced its third generation of all-electric presses.
Magic unveiled the ME-UE machine at the Cosmoprof trade show for the cosmetics sector, held earlier this year in Bologna, Italy. The press was an ME-UE-L1/D — meaning a double-sided, 1-liter model — and produced a cosmetic flask out of clear, heavy-walled, glycol-modified PET.
The company is targeting the new series to customers that have been reluctant to consider all-electric blow molding machines because of the high price. By working with component suppliers and through new design innovations, Magic has cut the price significantly — to the level of its hybrid models.
Magic introduced its first all-electric blow molding machine 14 years ago. Since then, the company has expanded its range of fully electric machines up to 50 liters and 50 tons of clamping force in its single-sided construction, and up to 30 liters and 30 tons of clamping force in double-sided.
Several years ago, Magic ended production of all-hydraulic machines, and officials said the company eventually will phase out hybrid models and move entirely to all-electrics. Today, more than half of Magic machines sold are all-electrics.
