ATLANTA (Aug. 15, 1:45 p.m. ET) — Those hungry to learn about the growing plastic caps and closures market, as well as the issues surrounding the recycling and environmental handling of such products, will find a smorgasbord of information during a three-day span in Atlanta next month.
From Sept. 12-14 at the Westin Atlanta Airport hotel, a pair of business conferences and a half-day workshop will focus on the topic – offering expert views on polymer usage, end-market prospects, processing advances, product design trends, sustainability initiatives, and the latest merger and acquisition developments.
CCMA annual conference
Monday kicks off with a full-day conference by the Closure & Container Manufacturers Association that will take an in-depth look at how the industry needs to respond to the challenge of handling some 250 billion caps and closures that are produced annually worldwide. It will address recycling opportunities, and hear how leading brand owners are approaching the sustainability issue. CCMA speakers will include John Delfausse, VP of global package development and chief environmental officer of Estee Lauder Corporate Packaging, and Rob Weick, VP of packaging and processing at ConAgra. Also on tap are Bericap North America Inc. President/COO Dave Andison, Amcor Rigid Plastics sustainability director Dave Clark, and KW Plastics market development director Stephanie Baker, among others.
Part design workshop offered
For those more tooling and process oriented, Monday afternoon also offers a half-day workshop on “Optimizing Part Design & Production of Caps & Closures” by Progressive Components International Corp. Presenters from Progressive and its sister companies AST Technology GmbH and ToolingDocs LLC will demonstrate how system manufacturing can minimize costs while also streamlining and optimizing all types of cap and closure production. That session targets molders, part designers, injection molding technicians and quality engineers.
