NEW PROVIDENCE, N.J. (Aug. 19, 1:30 p.m. ET) — Composite railroad tie maker Axion International and recycling firm Coll Materials are partnering for the new Coll Materials plant in Waco, Texas, to supply Axion.
The deal marks Axion's first foray into that geographic region, said Marc Solda, executive vice president with Axion, in a news release. Axion, based in New Providence, N.J., operates in a contract manufacturing model. Coll, based in Zanesville, Ohio, recently opened the Waco facility.
That $7 million investment included a wash line, a dry line, three 8-inch pellet extruders, several granulators, and fiber separation operations.
Coll Materials did not respond to e-mail questions before deadline.
