PARIS (Aug. 23, 3:30 p.m. ET) — Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has added clean rooms to two plants in its Healthcare Markets Group.
The company said Aug. 22 that it has added a 4,000 square foot Class 8 clean room with silicone molding equipment to its plant in Portage, Wis., to serve medical customers seeking increasingly smaller and more complex silicone components.
Saint-Gobain also said that it had expanded its Beaverton, Mich., facility by 30,000 square feet, adding a new product development center, an expanded space for tool building and a Class 7 clean room. The Beaverton plant makes silicone molded and extruded products with a primary focus on single-use assemblies used in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has 4,400 employees in 15 countries, and makes films, foams, coated fabrics, bearings, seals and fluid systems. The company is a unit of Paris-based Cie de Saint-Gobain.
