NEWTOWN, CONN. (Aug. 26, 12 p.m. ET) — Ashish Kulkarni, vice president of technology and innovation at Ticona, will deliver a plenary address at Eurotec 2011 in Barcelona, Spain.
Kulkarni's presentation, “When the Worlds Collide: Plastics & Applications,” is scheduled for Nov. 15.
He will discuss the differences in how engineers in the plastics world and those in the applications world operate. When those worlds collide, the differences impede innovation, he said.
“Innovation in plastics has slowed in the last three decades because the predominant focus of engineering organizations has been on cost reduction, extension and exploitation rather than exploration,” he said in a news release.
Kulkarni previously held engineering and management positions at Carrier Corp., American Standard Cos. Inc. and GE Plastics. He holds masters and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Osmania University in India.
Eurotec 2011 is sponsored by the Newtown-based Society of Plastics Engineers. More information is available at www.4spe.org.
