DETROIT (Aug. 31, 2:25 p.m. ET) — Two international automotive plastics part suppliers are investing in new production in Tennessee, with Sekisui Plastics Corp. building a new plant and ABC Group adding capacity.
Toronto-based ABC will spend $5 million to expand its blow molding facility in Gallatin, adding 114 jobs, state officials announced in an Aug. 31 news release. The plant makes plastic fuel tanks and urea treatment systems for both automotive and non-automotive customers.
Sekisui, part of Sekisui Chemical Co. Ltd. of Tokyo, will build a new $3 million plant in Mount Pleasant to produce plastic foam parts for auto safety components such as energy absorbers. It will be the company's second plant in Mount Pleasant and will employ 25 people, state officials said.
