NEW DELHI (Sept. 7, 1:15 p.m. ET) — Anand Automotive Systems Ltd. has recently commenced production of plastic components for car OEMs at its joint venture plant at Chennai.
“We have a JV with Mahle under the title Mahle Filter Systems India Ltd. and JV plant has been set up at Chennai to cater the Nissan plant. The plant manufactures plastic components like plastic cylinder covers and intake manifolds for Nissan model range,” said Sandeep Baluja, president of Anand Automotive Systems, at the annual Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers convention in New Delhi. The 4-month-old plant also supplies Honda.
Anand has also set up two JV plants in Chennai and Neemrana with Japan's Takata Corp. to make safety systems, including seatbelts, airbags, and steering wheels. The Neemrana plant started production in late 2010 and serves Indian automakers. The Chennai plant started in 2009.
In addition to plastic parts, Anand makes shock absorbers, filter systems, engine components, drivetrain products, exhaust systems, climate control and engine cooling systems, brakes, friction materials and adhesives etc. It has 42 manufacturing facilities in India.
