CLONTARF, AUSTRALIA (Sept. 7, 1:15 p.m. ET) — Australian composites maker Evolve Composites Pty. Ltd. will open its third U.S. production site in Hancock, Md.
The 110,000 square-foot plant initially will make cellular concrete products, but also may produce the firm's plastic products, CEO Martin Bristow said in the Sept. 1 edition of the Hagerstown (Md.) Herald-Mail. Those products include Polyslab-brand pool pump and irrigation covers, which are made from recycled plastic.
The project is expected to create at least 60 new jobs in its first three years. Evolve will pay no rent on the site for its first year. The plant previously was used to make travel trailers, but had been closed since 2005.
Clontarf, Australia-based Evolve already operates U.S. plants in St. Louis and in Pompano Beach, Fla., as well as a headquarters for its Evolve Composites USA unit in Torrance, Calif.
