SHANGHAI (Sept. 7, 12 p.m. ET) — Polyurethane equipment specialist Hennecke GmbH opened a new facility in Shanghai on Sept. 5, a day ahead of the opening of the UTECH Asia/PU China event in nearby Pudong.
Andrew Chan, general manager of Hennecke Machinery (Shanghai) Ltd., said the company's 2 million euro investment was only the first step. Growth is so high in the Asia Pacific region that Hennecke's owners, investment group Adcuram, would like to see a further expansion to allow the company to exploit the 10 percent and above growth the PU sector is seeing in the region.
At the opening, a group of some 200 guests, including customers from Hennecke's car seat making customers in China, and a large group of Korean visitors, saw Hennecke's latest project, an oval conveyor automotive seating line company has built for a seat maker in India.
The new plant will employ 50 to start with, but has space for an additional 20 personnel, which Hennecke will start to recruit soon. The site will form the Sankt Augustin, Germany-based company's competence centre for both molded foam for automotive seating and for refrigeration, another high-growth sector in China and Asia-Pacific.
