Maxson Automatic Machinery Co. of Westerly, R.I., has developed a sheeter that allows vinyl extruders to run at maximum line speed when producing sheet in-line.
The sheeter uses a dual-knife, rotary cutter technology, rather than a drop-shear design. The top and bottom blades are mounted in rotating cylinders. It can convert a web up to 0.12-inch thick into precise, square sheets at speeds of up to 300 feet per minute. The operator can adjust the knife clash while in operation, insuring a clean, hairless cross cut.
An extending system at the stacker allows the sheeter to run continuously while a skid is being removed.
