Conair Group is billing its circulating-water mold-temperature control unit as an alternative to circulating-oil TCUs.
The TW-HT Series TCUs can deliver circulating water at up to 392°F. Conair said that superheated water offers higher specific-heat capacity than oil heat-transfer media, plus better thermal conductivity and a heat-transfer coefficient that is more than double.
Water also is safer and “greener,” Conair said.
A special TW-HTM model is available for medical applications including polyetherether-ketone, polyetherimide and other ultra-high-temperature resins, which may require mold temperatures as high as 435°F.
Conair is based in Cranberry Township, Pa.
