ANSONIA, CONN. (Sept. 19, 2:45 p.m. ET) — HF Mixing Group's Continuous Mixing business unit has a new name to highlight its well-known equipment brands: the Farrel Pomini unit.
Farrel Pomini makes extruders and continuous mixers and extruders for plastic and rubber, according to Steve Peterson, vice president and director of the unit.
Farrel Corp. of Ansonia, Conn., and Pomini SpA of Castellanza, Italy, are sister companies, both owned by L. Possehl & Co. bmH, a German industrial conglomerate.
Farrel and Pomini — along with Harburg-Freudenberger GmbH of Lübeck, Germany — comprise the HF Mixing Group, which Possehl set up in 2010,
Possehl bought Pomini in 2007, then acquired Farrel in 2009.
Peterson said Pomini no loner makes new machinery for plastics, instead focusing on twin-screw extruders for rubber. But Pomini still provides spare parts for plastics processing equipment it has made in the past, he said.
