SOME OF THE WINNERS: Left to right, the ValuStair from LRM Industries International Inc., made using LRM's patented STF Sheetless Thermoforming, a process that eliminates the need for pre-formed sheet and uses computercontrolled trolleys moving around a circular track to produce large parts. The stairs are 22 feet long and 4 feet wide.
Bemis Co. Inc.'s Perfecseal unit used glycol-modified PET sheet to make a package that holds a dispensing system that injects bone cement into the spine. The package holds the spine syringe upright during loading and assembly, and the bone cement is mixed right in the package.
Productive Plastics Inc. made a pressure formed housing for a CT scanner. The company molds 10 components for the enclosure, then ships the entire module to the customer.
