Mold components maker DME Co. is getting into social networking, as the mold components maker in Madison Heights, Mich., continues to improve its products.
DME now offers two new channels of communication: Twitter and quick response (QR) codes.
DME is featuring QR codes in a new line of print advertisements. They resemble bar codes, but people with smartphones can snap a photo of the code, which gives them access to relevant information from DME, including videos and product news,
DME's Twitter account is available at www.Twitter.com/DMECompany.
In other news, DME offers a pre-pocketed option for its Edge mold bases, to help moldmakers significantly cut lead times.
Pre-machined pockets and top locks are already installed. DME of Madison Heights, Mich., said the mold bases are ideal to produce molds for thin parts. The mold maker can create separate machined tools, then insert them into a pocket in the mold base, instead of machining directly into the mold plate.
“With a pre-pocketed Edge mold base, all a mold maker needs to do is install the insert,” said Dave Lange, DME's director of sales.
