SANTA ANA, CALIF. (Sept. 30 2:30 p.m. ET) — Plastics Analytical Laboratory Inc. received notification Sept. 27 of its certification under ISO 17025, a standard for testing and calibration competence.
The certification brings credibility and “puts us on a different level of the playing field,” said Brian Rubin, PAL director of technology. “We have been blessed with access to market, but some customers prefer the accreditation.”
The nonprofit membership society American Association for Laboratory Accreditation of Frederick, Md., known as A2LA, handled the process working with Diana Randall, PAL quality manager. PAL made initial contact with A2LA in March 2010.
Custom compounder Modified Plastics Inc., also of Santa Ana, established PAL as a subsidiary in June 2008 to provide the plastics industry with analytical and technical services often involving new product development, material de-formulation or failure analysis. PAL capabilities include the differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques.
