EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO. (Oct. 10, 11:55 p.m. ET) — Consumer packaging company Rexam plc plans to expand its Excelsior Springs custom molded components facility more than 50 percent to support growing customer demand.
The nearly 75,000 square foot facility is being expanded to 115,000 square feet. Work has already started and is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.
The original plant was built in 1973 with operations starting in 1974.
The London-based company said that it will be adding injection molding and assembly equipment. The site currently employs more than 130 and supplies plastic packaging for the personal care industry.
Rexam's global plastics business has 45+ plants and more than 13,000 employees.
“Our Excelsior Springs facility supports our major customers who ship to the Midwestern United States,” said
Excelsior Springs is part of Rexam's Personal Care Division which supplies fragrance pumps, lotion pumps, cosmetic closures, samplers and one-touch, mechanical foam dispensers. It also makes lipstick packaging and make up cases.
The company said that its work ranges from packaging design and engineering to multi-shot molding, in-mold labeling and a wide range of value-added services.
