WILMINGTON, DEL. (Oct. 12, 2 p.m. ET) — DuPont Co. has dramatically shrunk its carbon footprint according to the firm's 2011 Sustainability Progress Report. The company has cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent — compared with 1990 figures — while at the same time slicing 6 percent of its energy usage despite increasing production by 40 percent.
“While reducing our footprint continues to be important, our growing focus is on how to use DuPont science and innovation to bring new products to the marketplace that improve efficiencies and sustainability throughout the entire value chain,” said vice-president and chief sustainability officer Linda Fisher.
“We see DuPont having an expanded role to provide sustainable solutions to our customers around the world as population dramatically increases.”
