Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. has launched its next-generation HyCAP injection press for making closures.
The company first came out with the HyCAP two years ago. The new HyCAP includes a number of speed and energy improvements that cut cycle times, particularly for lightweight closures. A new screw design gives improved plasticizing rates while allowing lower melt temperatures, to maintain strength and other properties of the resin save energy and reduce cycle times.
Earlier this year, Husky bought Austrian closure mold maker KTW Group. The new HyCAP has been designed to integrate with KTW closure molders.
“Since bringing KTW into the Husky team, we've brought the businesses together to provide everything from application review through to test and support as one system supplier,” said Jeff MacDonald, vice president of marketing.
The Bolton, Ontario-based Husky also implemented the SmartStart and SmartStop features, to make HyCAP presses easier to and faster to startup.
