RAUNHEIM, GERMANY (Oct. 24, 2:15 p.m. ET) — Packaging film maker Treofan Group has formed a partnership with Shiner International Inc. of Haikou, China, and Alliance Packaging of Hong Kong.
Under the agreement, Treofan will market and sell Shiner's coated films and tobacco films in Europe and the Americas, and company said in a news release. Shiner will gain access to Treofan's technologies for tobacco films and packaging to strength its position in the Chinese market. Alliance will market and sell all packaging films from Treofan and Shiner in Asia Pacific.
Effective immediately, the Shiner and Alliance sales force in Europe and the Americas will be absorbed into Treofan's network, which will have exclusive distribution rights for Shiner's coated and tobacco films in those markets. Treofan and Shiner will have a total coated film capacity of about 25,000 metric tons per year.
Nasdaq-listed Shiner will begin full production of tobacco films on its new 6.4 meter Brueckner line in the fourth quarter, with Raunheim-based Treofan as a technology partner. Treofan and Shiner will have a combined tobacco film capacity of about 45,000 metric tons per year.
