LIPPSTADT, GERMANY (Oct. 24, 2:15 p.m. ET) — German automotive lighting and electronic parts manufacturer Hella plans to invest between 5 million and 8 million euros in the expansion of its existing Mohelnice plant in the Czech Republic.
The global supplier intends to construct a new production hall at the plant, which is located north of Brno. Work is set for completion and operation during 2012.
The additional Hella Autotechnik capacity, when up and running, is expected to allow the Czech facility to produce more than 5 million headlight units, according to the Czech national investment and business development agency CzechInvest.
The enlarged operation is set to create in the region of another 100 jobs at the site, the agency reported.
Lippstadt-based Hella is also growing elsewhere in Eastern Europe. In Romania, the company expanded its workforce by 300 in the first half of this year. It now employs about 1,100 at its three car components plants in Timosoara, Lugoj and Arad.
