How many manufacturers can say their boss is one of the richest men in the world? That's the case for Mark Stephens, president of injection molder Ironwood Plastics Inc. About a year ago Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. bought the formerly family-owned molder, which has plants in Ironwood, Mich., and Two Rivers, Wis. Stephens met Buffett in person a few months ago, and now has a snippet about the meeting posted on the Ironwood Plastics website -- much of it courtesy of the Ironwood Daily Globe. The meeting came at Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting, which attracts some 40,000 shareholders and observers from around the world. Here's what Stephens shared about his audience with the Oracle of Omaha:
My personal meeting with Warren Buffett was special. While jewelry shopping at Berkshire-owned Borsheims, I was picked at random to meet Warren Buffet! Believe it or not, he knew about the acquisition of Ironwood Plastics Inc by CTB in December. After some small talk, he ended the conversation by saying "OK, so make us some money!" "Yes Sir, Mr. Buffett!"Stephens was impressed by Buffett's comments about a wide variety of business-related topics, and he plans to attend the meeting again next year.
