SINGAPORE (Updated Nov. 2, 4:45 p.m. ET) — Specialty chemicals company Clariant International Ltd. has relocated its textile chemicals business unit headquarters in Singapore, saying it is increasing the company's focus on Asia.

“The relocation … will better position Clariant to respond to global market conditions and Singapore offers the ideal location to serve the world's largest textile markets such as Bangladesh, China, India, and South East Asia,” said Thomas Winkler, head of Clariant's textile chemicals unit.
In the last five years, Clariant's sales in the Asia Pacific region have grown from 17 percent to around 22 percent and the acquisition of Süd-Chemie will add significantly to this growth, according to Clariant.
