HARTSVILLE, S.C. (Nov. 1, 2 p.m. ET) — Sonoco Recycling Inc. has completed the acquisition of a large material recovery facility in Greenville, S.C., from American Recycling of South Carolina LLC.
“The Greenville MRF will help accelerate Sonoco Recycling's current goal of doubling the volume of tons collected by 2014,” said Jim Brown, vice president of Sonoco Recycling.
The Greenville site becomes Sonoco Recycling's fifth MRF and expands the company's operations in one of the largest cities in South Carolina. The company already has locations in Charleston, Columbia and Spartanburg, the company said.
Sonoco Recycling is a subsidiary of Hartsville-based Sonoco Products Co., a maker of industrial and consumer products and provider of packaging services. Sonoco Recycling collects more than 3 million tons of recyclables each year, including paper, plastic and metal.
