ROCK HILL, S.C. (Nov. 4, 1:15 p.m. ET) — 3D Systems Corp. has purchased Huntsman Corp.'s Advanced Materials Division for $41 million.
The business, which makes RenShape-brand stereolithography print materials and Digitalis-brand 3D printers, generated $7 million in 2010 sales, mostly from print materials, according to Rock Hill-based 3D Systems.
According to 3D Systems, Huntsman's materials complement its own product line, and “are ideal for printing snap-fit polypropylene- and ABS-like parts and selectively colored medical models on 3D Systems' SLA printers.”
Huntsman, based in The Woodlands, Texas, said the sale will enable it to concentrate on its core businesses.
