BRUSSELS (Nov. 11, 1 p.m. ET) — PlasticsEurope has hit out at the fog of political ignorance that clouds politicians' attitudes to plastics packaging. The statement follows the organization support for a new study by independent Austrian consulting firm Denkstatt entitled “The impact of plastic packaging on energy consumption and GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions.”
“Politicians in general do not understand the role of packaging – whatever the material it's made of – for safeguarding food and the health of consumers,” said Michel Loubry, director of Brussels-based PlasticsEurope's energy efficiency and climate protection project.
“This is why we plan to disseminate to the politicians, the retailers and the food industry the results of the Denkstatt study.”
