Kabra Gloucester Engineering Ltd., the joint venture in Daman, India, between Gloucester Engineering Co. Inc. and Kabra Extrusionstechnik Ltd., unveiled its first Kage five-layer blown film line at an open house on Oct. 11-12.
More than 100 attendees watched the company's first production five-layer line in operation at Kabra Gloucester's new facility. The machine produced layflat barrier film 7.3 feet wide at a rate of 1,155 pounds an hour, producing film for edible oil packaging.
The line also can be used to make lamination films. It is designed to run up to 1,320 pounds of film an hour.
Kabra Gloucester Engineering developed the five-layer line for India's Prropyl Packs Ltd.
“We look forward to continuing to serve both the domestic and export market with our KET products and expanding Kage's global market share,” said Adam Blumenthal, managing partner of Blue Wolf Capital Partners LLC, the majority owner of Gloucester Engineering in Gloucester, Mass.
Gloucester and Kabra formed the joint venture in 2009. Earlier this year, Kabra bought a 15 percent ownership stake in Gloucester Engineering.
