VÉLIZY-VILLACOUBLAY, FRANCE (Nov. 28, 1 p.m. ET) — France's Dassault Systèmes SA said it will strengthen its position as a provider of software for product lifecycle management (PLM) in composites after acquiring Simulayt Ltd.
Simulayt, based in Woking, England, developed Layup Technology, incorporating fiber simulation and ply modeling for manufacturing of fiber-reinforced products. It is used in the automotive, marine and energy industries.
Dassault said it will incorporate Simulayt technology in its Catia version 6 platform, which is also used by composite products manufacturers.
John Klintworth, CEO of Simulayt, said in a news release that Vélizy-Villacoublay-based Dassault's experience in composites software made the deal “a natural choice for us.”
