DEHRADUN, INDIA (Dec. 14, 2:05 p.m. ET) — Tupperware India is planning to further widening its kitchenware portfolio in the Indian market with series of launches. The company is opening up a new segment for itself to feed the growing appetite of the growing Indian housewares market.
“We are planning to foray into water filtration production from the third quarter of 2012,” said Asha Gupta, managing director of Tupperware India. Tupperware declined to comment on the price range and production volume of the water filters.
The company has production facility in Dehradun and also engaged in contract manufacturing at Hyderabad and Bangalore. The company has no plans to set up additional facility at the moment though it is hiking capacity at its existing plant.
‘We are ramping up capacity at our Dehradun unit and with that we have enough capacity along with our multi-locational contract manufacturers to cater the growing demand of Tupperware range,' she stressed. But she declined to share the volumes.
Tupperware operates through network of direct selling agents spread over the country. Tupperware has presence in 60 cities with over 100 products. The company recently launched its Ultimo range of kitchenware in the Indian market.
