OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL. (Dec. 14, 2 p.m. ET) — Four new grades of additives developed by organic additive manufacturer Eco-Logic have been approved for food contact applications in Brazil.
The company said Dec. 8 that Brazilian authorities had given approval to four Eco-One additives that enhance the biodegradation of polyamide, PET, polypropylene and clear-molded polypropylene. Two other Eco-One additives that enhance the biodegradation of polyethylene and polypropylene were approved in August.
Eco-One additives are distributed in Brazil by EcoLogic's partner, TIV Plasticos.
Eco-Logic, based in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., said that independent ASTM D5511 tests have shown there is a 5-15 percent biodegradation in biologically active landfills within 30 days when its additives are used.
