Compounder RheTech Inc. has received accreditation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's BioPreferred product label.
The USDA label, launched in January, indicates a product has been independently certified to meet BioPreferred standards for bio-based content. Certification, which is done according to the ASTM International D6866 standard, typically takes two months.
RheTech is one of the first 100 companies to receive accreditation — other plastics companies include Clear Lam Packaging Inc., NatureWorks LLC and DuPont Co.
Whitmore Lake-based RheTech makes filled and reinforced polypropylenes, and color concentrates and additives for the automotive, truck, electronics, con- struction and consumer markets.
