SAN JOSE, CALIF. (Dec. 20, 12:20 p.m. ET) — Injection molder Delta Pacific Products Inc. and embedded joint venture Venta Medical LLC obtain about 40 percent of their volume from contract molding and tooling services for start-up businesses.
Formation of the Venta Medical venture between Delta Pacific and Venture Manufacturing Group Inc. was announced in November 2010. The focus is to provide turn-key services to early-stage entrepreneurial medical and life sciences companies developing devices.
As start-ups progress beyond incubator status, some continue to use certain services of Delta Pacific and Venta Medical, and, largely through word of mouth, other start-ups emerge and take their places, said Fred Betke, president of Delta Pacific.
About 1,500 square feet within Delta's 32,000-square-foot facility was remodeled as a Class 10,000 clean room. Delta acquired three Battenfeld presses—two 60-ton models and one 80-ton unit—and took two 75-ton presses out of service. The remodeling and acquisitions were completed in early 2011.
Delta Pacific was established in the San Francisco Bay area in 1988, initially in Fremont and then Santa Clara before locating in Union City in 2004.
